Once Upon a Teeny Tiny Plumeria, or Why We Love the Holidays Here at Papercraft Miracles

Despite the oddly warm weather here in Buffalo, we are in the process of prepping for the holiday season here in the studio. It’s the time of year when our team wears comfy clothes to work, starts the day with a cup of tea, and then hunkers down with some good tunes playing while we make some of our holiday favorite products.

We spend a lot of this time smiling and laughing because there’s something magical about making things you know that people are going to unwrap during the holidays. We truly fall in love with each floral piece, seed bomb, plantable card, and custom gift, the joy we get out of imagining the scenarios in which these items are lovingly given and opened is truly palpable.

Here's the story of one of our favorite little miracles.

As we were first learning to make the stunningly realistic paper flowers, we took a day to do some research and development (which in our world means looking at pretty pictures and doodling), and came across this darling picture of a tropical plumeria.

Isn’t it just the cutest?

Inventing new flower patterns is such a fun journey, and once we had decided on the type of paper and method of coloring, Becky took the time to bring this little beauty to life (well, life in paper). We found a teeny tiny pink flower pot in the back room, and “planted” the plumeria, and then we may or may not have spent a good twenty minutes just looking at it and chuckling (we totally did, I mean, it is seriously the cutest thing ever).

This little buddy hung around the studio for a few months, and we swore that we would never sell it, or we’d jokingly tell people that it was an exorbitant amount of money, because no one could bear to say goodbye to it.

When we decided to take it to one of our holiday markets, we found ourselves a bit sad until a young man came to our table and purchased it as a holiday gift for his girlfriend. Janna and Becky took one last selfie with our favorite little bud-dy (flower pun, get it?), and wrapped it up to send to a new home.

We still think about this little flower, and all of the tiny treasures we make, often, and it is our greatest holiday wish that someone out there takes as much joy in them as we do.

So why are we telling you the story of the Teeny Tiny Plumeria?

Because it is not unique. We take the same love and care with everything we make here at Papercraft Miracles, and every gift purchased is made with the recipient in mind. When you buy a holiday gift from us, you are not just buying something we threw together, you are buying something that has love and glee glued in between every single petal.
