The Best Flowers For an Anniversary

A Slightly Subjective Issue

The thing about an anniversary is, there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution. Some people have Star Wars-themed weddings. Some people never even get married. What kind of bouquet do you buy a person who does their hair up in a decorative cinnamon bun every other day? A bouquet of miniature Ewoks with little candies hidden amidst the plush? Actually, that’s a fine idea, but it’s not the point.

The point is, everybody has different preferences when it comes to flowers. So the following list of anniversary flowers may or may not fit the taste of you or your partner. Generally, for any anniversary celebration, you want to get flowers. Certainly, any flower is better than no flowers. There are a few things to think about, though.

For example: does your significant other have allergies? Do they have a favorite color? What sort of floral arrangements does your lady put together throughout the house? Such data points can help you pick a bouquet that really knocks that person’s socks off, and that’s the goal of any anniversary gift.

You’re commemorating your love, but you want to make the particular person of your affection happy, too. Hopefully, the floral varieties listed here help, at minimum, get you thinking in the right direction.

1. Roses to Match How Long You’ve Been together

Everybody loves roses, they come in a variety of colors, and you can get away with a lot through a big bouquet. Maybe you get a dozen roses for a first anniversary celebration. Maybe you order a few hundred roses and fill the bedroom with them. There are a lot of ways to go here, especially if, like most people, the particular object of your affection loves roses.

2. A First Anniversary Carnation

A first anniversary carnation bouquet should have sensuous coloration. Carnation flowers are very popular and have an archetypal romantic quality much like that attributed to roses. Plus, since these aren’t roses, but have a similar beauty, they tend to impart a more exotic feeling as a gift. Everybody buys roses.

Carnations aren’t as common, though they’re still appropriate. They could be a great way to shake things up if you’ve been married for a while or a fine way to commemorate your first year together.

3. The Gorgeous Multi-Colored Sensuality of Tulips

Tulips come in many colors. Pink and purple are what many people think of when someone says “tulip”, but you can find them in almost any color. The Dutch are famous for their tulip cultivation. These flowers have a sensuality like a rose and can be a fine choice for your anniversary this year.

4. Pricey Orchids Can Make a Statement

You can find orchids that cost more than your annual salary if you’re willing to make a move like that. These are some of the most high-priced and gorgeous flowers on the planet. Their gorgeous form and delicate appearance seem to fit in the mind of the beholder like a piece from a puzzle.

The thing is, owing to the cost of orchids, you want to be careful. They’re perfect for an anniversary, but you want to make sure your significant other understands the significance of the flower.

If you spend a thousand dollars on a dozen rare orchids that aren’t cut but designed to be cared for, the person with whom you are in love might not understand what you’ve done if that particular individual isn’t familiar with these flowers. Of course, you can find them affordably-priced as well. Still, they’ll likely cost more than other flowers.

Flowers to Celebrate Your Anniversary

Orchids, tulips, carnations, and roses are fine anniversary flowers. They’re just the tip of the iceberg; endless varieties exist. Whatever you do, try to find something you know the object of your affection will love. It’s the thought that counts, but there’s certainly something to be said for quantity.
