Join us for our 6th Annual Buffalo BookFest, as we welcome the 3rd Annual Upstate Wayzgoose, a gathering of printers, book artists, and lovers of the craft! WNYBAC's Buffalo BookFest is a day-long festival dedicated to printing and the book arts, with free hands-on demos all day, for all ages.
Craft your own hard cover coptic bound journal with a decorative stitch, a variation of the basic coptic stitch. Basic bookbinding knowledge not required-this class is geared towards beginners! Decorative cover papers to choose from will be included with all other supplies.
A drop-in group work hour for bookbinders & crafters, held once a month!
These books have a unique binding that allows them to be strong (like a case-bound book) but to also lay flat (like a coptic-bound book). They are durable and beautiful, albeit a little tricky to make. Once completed, it's difficult to see how they are constructed which adds to the "secret" part of their name.
Instructor: Janna Willoughby-Lohr
Create a pocket-sized origami & hand-stitched book perfect for tiny poetry, photos, and much more! All levels are welcome, especially beginners.

If you've taken bookbinding workshops and want to begin working on your own self-directed project, or need assistance in finishing a pesky stitch, join us for our brand new BookBinders' Open Studio! WNYBAC members & workshop attendees expressed interest in a community hour for local artists, scrapbookers, bookbinders and the like to get together and create...and here it is! The Open Studio will be monitored by artist and WNYBAC instructor Janna Willoughby-Lohr, who runs her own successful bookmaking business, PaperCraft Miracles. Open Studio will help novice binders develop the skills and confidence to work independently, and also be a support system for more experienced binders. Get advice and tips while working on your own projects. Basic supplies like glue, basic papers, and supplies (awls, bone folders, needles, paper cutters & equipment) are included. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact email@example.com or call us Tues-Sat 12-6pm at (716) 348-1430. Cost: $25
